SC summons two ministers over remarks on CJ

MinistersThe Supreme Court Appellate Division on Tuesday summoned liberation war affairs minister, AKM Mozammel Haque and food minister Md Kamrul Islam to explain their comments on chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha.

The apex court asked the two ministers of the Awami League government to appear in the court on 15 March for their clarification.

On Saturday, addressing a roundtable held at BILIA auditorium in the capital city’s Dhanmondi, food minister Md Kamrul Islam expressed his dissatisfaction over the chief justice’s remarks, saying “We can assume what would be the verdict on this case (of Mir Quasem Ali) through the remarks made by the chief justice in the court openly.”

At the same programme, the liberation war affairs minister, AKM Mozammel Haque also said, “I will request the chief justice…withdraw your statement. Or else, I will ask him to consider how much scope there is for him to stay in the post.”
