The government  on Monday ordered all garment factory owners to pay the festival bonus and wages of their workers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
The festival bonus for Eid and Puja will have to be paid by September 28, Mujibul Haque Chunnu, the state minister for labour and employment, said after a meeting of the Crisis Management Core Committee of the readymade garment sector.
The salary of the current month, September, will have to be paid by October 2, the minister told reporters after the meeting held at the Secretariat, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

The move came in the wake of protests demanding clearance of dues for five factories of the Tuba group during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations during August this year.
According to the calendar, the Dashami of Durga Puja is slated for October 4 and the Eid holidays are expected to begin from October 5 (depending on sighting of the moon).
